07 - Winter

Monday, 7 January 2019

The cruel beast with the endless fog, rain lashing down almost every day and dark, infinitely long nights.

Winter.

You used not to be my friend, a miserly figure to hate seethingly and silently.

Then you introduced yourself to me and told me about yourself one day.

I got to know all about you. You are the time for breathing life back in from the extremities, for letting go of old growth to feed the new, time for the seeds of growth to bed in and ready themselves whilst the earth around is slumbering gently.

We're friends now, I think.

Images taken on an early winter trip to Derwent Water. The golden glow as autumn transitions to colder weather makes it a magical time to enjoy and reflect on the greener times and look forward to bedding down to gather energy for the following year's growth.
